About me

I’m an old and somewhat cranky autodidact who constantly feels dislocated from the world in which I live.

I like empirical evidence (especially quantitative evidence) and feel more at home with numbers than people (although I love my wife and family).

I excessively use parentheses (even though I try hard not to).

I hate organised crime, especially drug and human trafficking, corrupt politicians and those who seek to benefit criminally from the efforts of others (as well as split infinitives).

I spend my working life helping banks to monitor, control, identify and report on suspicious financial flows and much of my private life doing the same thing on my own behalf.

The outcome of my personal efforts appear here in my writing.
